Transom Window Graphics

Direct Imaging to Translucent Window Vinyl

About This Project

The mandate from Dr. Patty Perry, to QCI, was to create a branded look at her newly constructed offices.  She wanted the new offices to stand out from a street view

The challenge was to animate 3 Blank Transom Windows that faced New Road in Linwood NJ.  The Transom Windows were 46” x 76” and were an advantageous area for branding of the Dr. Patty Perry logo.

QCI is a pre-eminent printer to many types of Window Graphic Vinyl. QCI has recently introduced Day/Night Street Appeal Window Graphics.  By using a technique developed by our engineers, 80% ambient light shows through during the daytime for interior brightness.  Equally compelling is the night view where the interior spots backlight the window graphics for dramatic street viewing.

Our first detail was an onsite survey to create a paper template of the arched window.  Due to a wet mount install by Street Media extra bleed was required so final trim could be made after installation.

QCI provided color tests with attention to the background color.  Our pre-press department made file adjustments for optimum printability of the match blue color.

Staci adjusted the saturation of the background blue color to allow the proper amount of ambient light to pass through.  The printing was done from vector files which provided excellent resolution.  The resultant graphics printed smoothly with no banding and full ink saturation of the background color.  We selected a Translucent Window substrate to show the reverse, white type present in the logo.

Result

With careful planning, the project was completed on time. Dr. Patty Perry was keen on having the install of the graphics be done in conjunction with the office construction.  It was no problem. The final installation of the Day/Night Window Graphics transformed the new offices to dramatic affect.  QCI is grateful of its vendor relationship with Dr. Patty Perry.  We take satisfaction that we could play an important role in the successful completion of this unique project.

The workflow for producing Window Graphics is a three step process that includes;

    • Solvent Printing to Clear, Translucent, Opaque, Perforated 2 Way Window, or Micro Channel “ Bubble Free” Adhesive Ultra Removable Vinyl
    • Pressure Sensitive Over Laminating  (Optionally we can provide 2nd Surface Mounting Adhesive)
    • Digital Die Cutting to Desired Shape
We utilized the following equipment:

Flat Bed UV Printing on our VuTek Press Vu 200/600W with White Ink Capability, allows us to print directly on media up to 1.5 inches thick. The VuTek Prints up to 80 inches wide by any length on roll substrates. The roll configuration is what we used to print the panels.

Digital Die Cutting  on our MGE-iCut:  w allows us to contour cut media 84 inches wide by extended lengths with precision cut finished edges.
